Thomas R. Shepherd Managing Partner

Tom Shepherd has over 50 years of corporate and financial experience including senior leadership roles in operations, management and private equity. From 1986 until 1998, prior to co-founding TSG Equity Partners, Tom was a Managing Director of Thomas H. Lee Company, one of the oldest and most successful private equity firms. Tom served as President of GTE Lighting Products Group (GTE Sylvania) from 1983 through 1986 and was President of North American Philips Commercial Electronics Corporation from 1981 until 1983. Tom currently serves or has served on the Board of Directors of six publicly traded companies and over a dozen corporations in total:

Tom received a BA in Economics from Washington & Lee University, a Master of Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and completed the executive program at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

Philanthropic interests include the United Way, Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, Washington & Lee University (Trustee Emeritus) and several Land Trusts and other non-profit organizations.  In 2006, Tom was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Law by Washington & Lee University in recognition of his “commitments to social justice and dedication to public service."
