Established in 1996, TSG’s Principals have successfully invested more than $250 million of equity capital in over 30 companies. Tom Shepherd, the firm’s Chairman, brings with him more than 50 years of operating and private equity experience including that with GTE Sylvania, North American Philips, and the Thomas H. Lee Company. Nate Shepherd, the firm’s President, brings with him extensive business development and private equity experience having structured and managed a variety of investment types (e.g. PIPE, LBO, IPO, merger, acquisition, divesture) and in companies throughout multiple industries. The Principals are joined by an exceptionally talented group of Operations Partners and Senior Advisors, all of whom bring with them extensive operating and management experience in both the public and private sectors.

As further described in Investment Criteria, TSG provides growth and acquisition financing to small and lower-middle market profitable, growing companies. TSG’s focus, first and foremost, is with companies exhibiting:

The firm targets clean technology and other applied technology companies, as well as more established branded industrial and product companies. TSG gives first priority to companies where its investment professionals bring extensive experience and demonstrated operational and investment success. When reviewing an investment opportunity, TSG looks to build partnerships with management teams whose mission objectives and exit strategies align closely with those of the firm.
